Each year, 20 students from each of our 7th and 8th grade bands are invited to audition for the Southwest Iowa District Honor Bands which are sponsored by the Iowa Bandmasters Association.

Placement into these elite groups is by audition only. This year, approximately 300 students from 40 schools in southwest Iowa auditioned for the 90 positions available in each of the 7th grade band and the 8th grade honor band.

Preparation for this event started in the summer and students practiced many, many hours since the beginning of school getting ready for their individual auditions. We are proud to recognize the 9 Lewis Central students who earned a position in the 7th grade honor band and the 10 eighth grade students who earned a position in the 8th grade honor band.
