LCMS Band Program Breaks Record!

The Iowa Bandmasters Association (IBA) sponsors the All-Iowa 8th Grade Honor Band, where each of the six districts in the state of Iowa send their top musicians to Des Moines in May to perform at the Downtown Marriott Hotel at the Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference. This year, LCMS broke its previous record of sending 4 students in 2012 to this prestigious ensemble by sending 6 students in 2015! (Of special note: the 2012 class is the 2015 junior class at LCHS - the record-breakers for the Iowa All-State instrumental ensembles!)  READ MORE...

Nerd Herd Takes Top Honors

A girls’ Middle School Lego League team, known as the “Nerd Herd,” created an invention for this year’s Lego League tournament. Their invention was called “The Walk n’ Wheel.” It was designed by the team to help the elderly and the disabled gain more independence. In the past, people with partial mobility would have to rely on multiple pieces of equipment, such as a walker and a wheelchair. Because they would be unable to use one and carry the other, they would have to depend on others to assist them.  READ MORE...
